Hello everyone—Jeanne Davis here at LDV! While Paloma travels to New York for Better Homes and Gardens‘ Stylemaker Summit this week and Birmingham to sign copies of Dream Design Live next week (win a free copy here!), we’re coveting this month’s new crop of design magazines being delivered to the office. (It’s work, we swear.)

As you read in last week’s installment of Friday Favoriteswe’re loving Ellen Kavanaugh’s 1920s Mediterranean-Moroccan style home she decorated in the October issue of House Beautiful. In this preppy Palm Beach property, Kavanaugh expertly delivered the tall order of designing a home that felt both classically chic and charmingly eclectic. In doing so, she masterfully mixed pretty patterns and playful colors with an assortment of antiques and original architectural details. (Those pecky-cypress ceilings!)

“The client, who’s a former art teacher, wanted the quirkiness and retro-nostalgic pastels of a Wes Anderson movie…what’s cool about his cinematography is how it nods to childhood the way it’s remembered, not the way it was lived, so the visual style is singular and very fun,” Kavanaugh shared with House Beautiful. “It’s the same with these rooms. They are elegant and playful and don’t take themselves too seriously.”

Tour the beautiful abode below and grab the October issue of House Beautiful for more inspiring interiors.
