This year’s Southern Living Idea House was recently unveiled in Crane Island, Florida. Designed by Birmingham-based interior and textile designer, Heather Chadduck Hillegas, the house is the very embodiment of chic coastal style with relaxed finishes, a beautiful palette comprised of mainly blue hues and neutral tones, and an elegant, yet effortless spirit. The large house features a generous amount of outdoor living spaces which Heather blended seamlessly with the interiors. The house will be open to the public through December 8th and is featured in the August issue of Southern Living. Let’s take a tour, shall we?

Every room in the house was oriented to face the water across from the house, including the open and welcoming foyer.

The living room features v-groove paneling on the walls, beams faux painted to look old and add character, as well as a gracious blue color palette and fun mix of fabrics.

The kitchen is the very picture of coastal style. I love the sepia-toned Gracie panel that acts as a focal point behind the range. To make it kitchen-friendly, it is protected by a piece of glass.

The organized pantry makes me want to get my act together in my own pantry!

Can you imagine having breakfast here? Everyday would feel like vacation!

I am obsessed with this series of paintings by Catherine B. Jones in the stairwell!

A Pretty Powder Room

The dining room features a chic painted floors and chairs upholstered in Heather’s own Petite Frond fabric.

I love the slightly more modern feel of the playroom with its mirror-image banquettes and game tables, series of botanical prints, and fabulous horizontal stripe wallpaper.

An Inviting Outdoor Seating Area

How chic is the bedroom on the sleeping porch? The fabric on the canopy is Heather’s Grande Frond in Olive.

Sweet Dreams!

The focal point of the master bathroom is the Cheviot Balmoral Tub which was color-matched to Sherwin Williams’ Rookwood Dark Green.

The cabinetry is so pretty and timeless. I also love the Jasper wallpaper and antique Louis Philippe mirror.
