While I think of myself as more of a traditionalist than a modernist, I absolutely love sleek, contemporary (but warm!) interiors. Over the weekend, Fabian and I popped into an open house in the neighborhood. I loved the house which was distinctly more modern and minimal than my own house. I think my Type A personality is drawn to the order and lack of clutter in more minimal interiors.

Creating a modern space that manages to feel warm and inviting requires a deft hand, which is precisely why this ultra-chic apartment at the Baccarat Residential Tower in Manhattan by Alexander M. Reid and recently featured in Architectural Digest works. Alexander is a young designer with talent beyond his years. He got his start working as a designer at One Kings Lane where he designed spaces for celebrity clientele and regular clients alike and struck out on his own within the last few years. While his work is typically more masculine, for this project, Alexander’s client was a single woman from Mexico who lives primarily in Miami, but wanted a pied-a-terre for when she and her children find themselves in New York. The one directive she gave Alexander? To pull out all the stops so she could impress her friends. The result is an elegant space filled with important furnishings, incredible artisanal finishes, and spectacular lighting, furniture, and art.
