This week, One Kings Lane published a wonderful story and feature on our dear client’s home in Houston. This is one of my favorite projects, which you may have seen glimpses of in my book, Dream Design Live or on my Instagram. When I was first hired to transform the 1930s River Oaks home, the house felt dark and too mature for my clients who are a young, vibrant family with small children. We lightened everything up, brought in a mix of modern and traditional pieces as well as striking contemporary art, and we made over the kitchen and the bathrooms. It is still one of everyone at Paloma Contreras Design‘s favorite projects to date. You can read more about the process and see the full tour on One Kings Lane.
{The beautiful antique European landscape painting passed down to my client from her mother served as the impetus for the home’s color palette.}
{The living room features a striking mix of traditional and modern pieces resulting in a layered space filled with personality.}
{A Moment in the Dining Room}
{The dining room features an antique dining table, Suzanne Kalsler for Hickory Chair dining chairs, an Elise Morris painting and a grouping of seascapes by local Houston artist, Tim Schneider}
{The kitchen received a major overhaul to make it light and bright!}
{The lacquered library is everyone’s favorite room! The family spends the most time together there and everyone who sees this space falls in love with it. The paint color is Benjamin Moore Water’s Edge color-matched in Fine Paints of Europe lacquer.}
{The eldest daughter wanted a big girl room so we designed a whimsical canopy in Schumacher’s Manor Rose print and designed the rest of the space around it.}
{Who says big sisters get everything? The baby’s nursery is just as pretty, swathed in Cole and Sons’s iconic Hummingbirds wallpaper.}
