It has been a few months since the passing of the great decorator, Mario Buatta. Buatta was known as much for his incredible talent as his larger than life personality. It was well known that Architectural Digest was his preferred magazine of choice, so it is only fitting that AD would be the ones to feature his last project, a glamorous apartment on the Upper East Side. The clients are both Rene Magritte enthusiasts and longtime collaborators of Buatta’s who designed this spectacular home. The apartment is quintessentially Buatta with its sumptuous upholstery, elaborate drapery treatments, bold use of color, and overarching elegance while the story by Emily Evans Eerdmans is a fitting tribute to an interior design icon.
