My Room, the “Spring Awakening” Study
The 2019 Kips Bay Decorator Show House just opened in New York this past Thursday. It is extra special this year because I was asked to design a room for it. I have admired what is considered the most important designer show house in our industry for many years (it is in its 47th year!) and to be able to participate this year was an absolute dream come true. I am so humbled by the opportunity to be able included in an incredible roster of veteran interior designers who in some cases have participated in Kips Bay 8 or 9 times including Charlotte Moss, Cullman & Kravis, Vicente Wolf, Eve Robinson, and Jeff Lincoln. It was especially fun to participate alongside friends Young Huh (this year’s superstar– her room has nearly broken the internet), Sarah Bartholomew, Matthew Bees, and Robert Passal.
The roster of 22 talented designers did not disappoint this year– every room is filled with show-stopping details and imagination. Above all, the Kips Bay Show House is an incredibly worthy cause which raises millions of dollars to benefit the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club which provides a safe place to learn, play, and grown for children in the Bronx. We were able to meet some of the children and they are absolutely amazing. Any moment of stress during the six week timeline to bring our rooms to life was worth it because it is all for the kids! I’ll share more about the “Spring Awakening” study I designed later this week, but for now, here is a glimpse into the showhouse, courtesy of Architectural Digest. If you find yourself in New York before May 30th, please be sure to check it out in person!
