How is it the end of May? This month has flown by! I can hardly believe that the Kips Bay Showhouse closed yesterday after opening on May 2nd. Designing a room in this year’s show house was such a rewarding experience in countless ways. I am sad that it is over, but grateful to have shared the experience with both old and new friends. I am looking forward to hopefully doing it again in a few years. I’m actually heading to New York yet again for a couple of days next week to break our room down at Kips Bay and to attend the Elle Decor A-List party. To say that I am thankful for this wonderful recognition and all of the amazing things happening lately would be a major understatement.

Design: Have you heard of @instagrahamdesigner? Earlier this year, this darling eleven year old design enthusiast burst onto the scene when he visited the Kips Bay Palm Beach Show House where his mother had designed a room. Soon, he had befriended quite a few designers on Instagram and asked his parents for a trip to New York to see the Kips Bay show house for his eleventh birthday. I was sad to miss my new friend Graham in New York. It’s so wonderful to see someone so young tap into his passion at an early age and the encouragement he has received from the design community has been incredible. He was just written about in Architectural Digest Pro who photographed him for their interview in my room along with House Beautiful. If you aren’t following Graham yet, you absolutely should!

Style: I am a Birkenstock convert. I used to think they were the most hideous shoes until I was in Paris a couple of summers ago, dying because my thin-soled leather sandals were betraying me on the cobble-stoned streets. I noticed that tons of chic women from 20-70 years old were wearing Birkenstocks, so we went off to the Marais and I broke my own rule about Birkenstocks. Ever since, they are among some of my favorite shoes ( I have a black pair and a white pair). Nothing is quite as comfortable as Birkenstock Arizona sandals and I have completely come around to find them completely chic. My poor husband still isn’t convinced, but he is happy not to hear me complain about my feet hurting. Recently, MATCHESFASHION launched the ultra-stylish Birkenstock x Il Dolce Far Niente collaboration in which the classic Arizona sandals are executed in luxe materials like raffia and satin with contrasting trims. I have my eye on the natural raffia version, but you can see them all here.

Read: I recently received a copy of The Most Powerful Woman in the Room is You by Lydia Fenet, a managing director at Christie’s and have really enjoyed it so far. I started reading it on the flight home from New York last week and found so much of it resonated with me. So much of reality is perception and such a big part of succeeding in life boils down to believing that you can do what no one else thinks you can. What are you currently reading?

Listen: Tame Impala is one of my favorite bands. Producer/creator/lead vocalist Kevin Parker is a creative genius. Their album from 2015, Currents is still very much on repeat in our office and was basically the soundtrack I listened to on a loop while I wrote my book. I frequently listen to Currents or Bob Marley’s Legend album on flights because they keep my anxiety in check when there is turbulence. All this to say, Tame Impala recently released a new single, “Patience”, which I love and am currently listening to quite a bit. You can watch their performance of “Patience” on Saturday Night Live here.

Follow: There is no denying that French women are generally just chicer than the rest of us. The can make even the simplest of outfits look completely effortless and polished. I have been following French style setter, Leia Sfez for some time now and love literally everything she wears and posts. Everything is simple, classic, and ultra-chic. You can follow her on Instagram @leiasfez.

Shop: I have loved Emerson Fry for as long as the line has been around, but I am obsessed with the newest India Collection. As much as I love classic, simple silhouettes, I also happen to love bohemian blouses and dresses. I recently ordered this Bardot top in black and white as well as pink. I also ordered this caftan for our trip to Round Hill in Jamaica and have my eye on this dress now!
