With the holidays just around the corner, you may be preparing to host overnight guests. While having guests in your home for more than cocktails or dinner can be stressful, it certainly doesn’t need to be! In fact, I cover the topic of “effortless entertaining” extensively in the “Live” section of my new book, Dream Design Live. A wise woman once said that a host should spend a night in his or her own guest bedroom in order to ensure that everything is comfortable enough for a guest. From a design perspective, much like powder rooms, guest bedrooms are the perfect place to try a wallpaper or paint color you might be afraid to commit to in a room you use everyday and your guests are sure to enjoy a space with a bit of panache. My guest bedroom is more pattern-driven than any other room in our house for this exact reason. I dressed the space in various patterns in blue and white and even opted for printed lampshades, resulting in a room that is cozy and fun!
