Greetings from San Francisco! I have been on the West Coast for over a week and am finally heading home today for a few days before flying to Chicago for another event. The book tour has truly been a whirlwind! I have loved meeting so many wonderful people, visiting some of my favorite cities, and hearing everyone’s feedback on my book. That being said, I am ready to be home for a few days!
Design: I love a room swathed in treillage. It is beautiful and timeless, yet it maintains a sense of ease since treillage was traditionally used outdoors in France. This study designed by my talented friend, Clary Bosbyshell and featured in the current issue of Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles is a fantastic example of this lovely architectural detail.
Style: If you read my Style Files interview last week, then you know that one of my style icons is the uber chic founder of Moda Operandi, Lauren Santo Domingo. I absolutely love her style sensibility and LOVED this look she posted on Instagram this week. The whole thing is flawless from the Toni Maticevski gown to the hair and de Grisogono jewelry.
Watch: While in LA this weekend, we watched Bohemian Rhapsody, the new film about the group Queen. Both Fabian and I loved it in spite of the Rotten Tomatoes score. Rami Malek was captivating as Freddie Mercury and it was fascinating to see how their anthemic songs came to be. Another fun tidbit– we saw the entire cast of the movie while out at dinner one evening and then saw Armie Hammer and Timothee Chalemet from Call Me By Your Name the next time. You’ve gotta love LA!
Wellness: A couple of days ago, I saw a post on Goop’s Instagram that I found rather intriguing. The caption read “Is food a reward? A source of comfort? A tool to numb? Apparently, the Archetype Diet helps you to figure out how you interact with food and why. I took the quiz and found that I fit the “Wonder Woman” archetype which was spot on. I could definitely stand to improve my relationship with food, especially after months of traveling for this book tour. Intrigued, I ordered The Archetype Diet book, which I can’t wait to read when I get home!
Events: Next week, I am heading to Chicago for a special discussion on design with Margot Shaw, Editor in Chief of Flower Magazine and my friend and talented designer, Shelley Johnstone at the new Ballard Designs store in Oak Brook, which will be followed by a book signing for Dream Design Live. You can get all of the details and RSVP (required) for the panel which is open to the trade only through this link.
Shop: I just came across a super chic, new (to me) jewelry collection by Brinker & Eliza which features heart, leaf, and shell motifs made from semi-precious stones. These pieces, particularly this necklace, this bracelet, and these earrings would look just as chic with a fabulous dress as they would with a white button down shirt and jeans! Act quickly because the trunk show ends tonight!
