Happy Friday! It’s been a whirlwind week! I started the first half of the week in New York where I was checking on the progress of my room at the Kips Bay Showhouse and then was back in the office yesterday and we have been busy changing our shop’s floor around and working on new projects. Does it finally feel like Spring where you are? It was freezing in New York and it’s 80 degrees in Houston today. Crazy, but I’ll take it over the cold! I love the beginning of a new season because it has a sense of promise and there always seems to be an influx of interesting things going on right now!
Design: Architectural Digest just launched the new version of AD Pro this week! The new platform caters to the design trade with industry-specific news, helpful business advice, and best of all, access to their entire archive of images spanning back decades.
Read: One of my favorite interior designers, Jeffrey Bilhuber just released his fifth new book, Everyday Decorating. It is filled with some new images as well as several favorite projects from the past along with clever advice for evoking specific moods in one’s home. It is inspiring and packed with valuable design takeaways for the design enthusiast.
Watch: Is anyone else obsessed with Veep? I love the biting satire and the motley cast of characters! They’re each so funny in their ineptitude and Julia Louis Dreyfus just slays with her comedic timing. You can click here to watch the trailer for the seventh and final season which just started last week.
Cook: Now that spring is here, asparagus and peas are in season which means all kinds of heavenly dishes are calling my name. We just had the most delicious pasta with spring peas while in New York, so this pasta with Spicy Pesto, Asparagus, and Ricotta Pasta with Crispy Prosciutto sounds pretty tasty right about now!
Beauty: Anytime I discover something new, or in this case new to me, I love to share. Earlier this week, I told you about my favorite pair of shoes that are so perfectly chic and comfortable. Today, I’ll tell you about my latest favorite skincare find. The SK-II Facial Treatment Mask has become somewhat of an icon and while I was late to the party to try it, I now see what all of the fuss is about. I ordered a single mask in order to try it before shelling out for a ten pack. I put it on the night before the Kips Bay President’s Dinner on Monday after my friend, skincare guru Kathleen Jennings (I’ve found so many favorite products through her!) advised to save the SK-II for a special occasion. Well, it really lived up to the hype. I find that sheet masks feel a little weird for the first minute as you get used to the wet feeling, but a couple of minutes in, it feels amazing and I find it very relaxing. Most importantly, my skin looked tighter, felt silky smooth, and had an amazing glow immediately after. I also noticed a couple of blemishes completely disappeared. I’m a believer and you’d better believe I am adding this amazing mask to my regular repertoire.
Shop: The spring always brings the color green to mind. I find that shades of olive and khaki look great with most complexions. Not to mention, anything with a safari vibe tends to be completely timeless and chic. I am currently loving this pretty dress, this chic jacket, and these fun sandals.
