Happy Friday! I’m heading home today after a wonderful book signing at Jett Thompson in Naples, Florida yesterday. I met so many lovely people and had a great time, but I am ready to head home to my boys and get back to work because we have a ton of work to do on various projects and next week, I am heading to Paris with Devon, my partner in Paloma & Co to find treasures for our shop! In the meantime, here’s what has been on my radar lately. Have a great weekend!
Design: Architectural Digest just ran a fascinating story written by Ashley Hicks, son of the legendary decorator David Hicks in which he tours the long forgotten London apartments of Lord and Lady Cholmondeley, which his father decorated in 1965. The apartments which have largely gone untouched for the last 50 years. Not surprisingly, they spaces have stood the test of time and are as chic now as they were when they were first decorated– a testament to great design.
Style: Speaking of legendary decorators, Anthony Baratta recently teamed up with Max Mara Weekend on a fabulous capsule collection inspired by Cape Cod which features 12 effortless pieces including dresses, oversized tops, and pants in classic patterns like gingham, floral prints, and a whimsical pattern of blue and white chinoiserie jars.
Events: I’m thrilled to share that I will be designing a room in this year’s Kips Bay Showhouse! Kips Bay is an incredibly worthy cause as well as an iconic event in the design industry and I could not be more honored to participate this year. Stay tuned as I share behind-the-scenes glimpses of the process and my design before the showhouse opens on May 2nd. Congratulations to all of the designers involved this year!
Listen: I don’t listen to a ton of country music, but I recently heard a new song by country sensation, Kacey Musgraves called “Slow Burn” and loved it. Intrigued, I downloaded her new album, “Golden Hour” and have been listening to it on repeat on all of my recent flights and in the car. Kacey is such a talented songwriter and she has the most ethereal voice. My favorite songs are the title track, “Golden Hour” and “Space Cowboy“.
Watch: Last weekend, we finally got around to watching Green Book, which won the Academy Award for Best Picture this year. Fabian and I both loved it. It was smart, funny, and the relationship between the two main characters is rather endearing. I’d highly recommend it if you’re looking for something to watch this weekend.
Shop: I recently came across a really chic line of jewelry crafted from wood by designer Sophie Monet. The pieces are sculptural and toe the line perfectly between making a statement and being subtle enough to be quite versatile. I especially love this necklace, these earrings, this cuff, and these earrings.
