LDV Edit: An Ode to the Ladylike Shoe

When it comes to shoes, style and comfort are equally important to me, especially because my job as a designer means I spend a good deal of time running around to client meetings, showrooms, and job sites. As such, I need to look polished, but I am at a place in my life where I am no longer willing to suffer in painful shoes. You won’t find me in stilettos very often! That certainly doesn’t mean I have to sacrifice style. Much like the perfect jacket can immediately take a pair of jeans with a tee shirt up several notches, a ladylike shoe can do the same. My personal favorites are classic Chanel Slingbacks which I have in both the flat (pictured above) and low-heeled version (2.6″ height) in a few colors along with Ann Mashburn’s fabulous buckle shoe. The former is a classic that I know I will wear forever (they’re chic at every age and go with virtually anything!); the latter was inspired by the classic Roger Vivier buckle shoe made famous in 1960s French cinema, including Belle du Jour in which style icon Catherine Deneuve has questionable morals and an enviable wardrobe! I started with a brown suede pair of Ann Mashburn Buckle Shoes and soon after, I added a black pair and a green pair. I just can’t get over how comfortable they are! I always feel polished, elegant, and ready for anything in any of these chic and timeless shoe options and love that with each new purchase (Sorry, Fabian!), I am investing in shoes that I will wear forever.
