Happy Friday! It feels good to be back on the blog after taking a little break while I was in Paris. The city is quiet at this time of year since most Parisians are “en vacances” and take almost the entire month off. The downside was that many shops were closed, but the plus side was that we were able to get every dinner reservation we wanted and felt a bit like we had the city to ourselves which was a nice luxury. We spent most days sourcing accessories, art, and incredible antiques for a new venture that is coming together soon and our evenings were spent going for long walks and enjoying delicious dinners along with our fair share of dessert. I don’t know that we would go back in August, but it was the only time that we could squeeze in a trip before my book tour kicks off in a couple of weeks– more on that shortly! Here’s what has been on my radar since I have been gone.

Design: I came back from Paris feeling so inspired, so it was a treat to find an issue of Veranda‘s September/October 2018 issue waiting for me at home. Dubbed the “Wanderlust Issue”, it features the favorite design destinations of top tastemakers including Alessandra Branca and Timothy Corrigan, a beautiful home in Tel Aviv designed by fellow Houstonian Kevin Spearman, a spectacular home in France by Juan Pablo Molyneux, along with architect Bobby McAlpine’s new Atlanta home on the cover of the magazine. Pick up your issue today!

Style: I love a caftan. There is something so glamorous about a beautiful one and this line by Leal Daccarett takes a fresh approach with slightly less voluminous silhouettes and gorgeous details such as sleeves with bows and beautiful buttons and embellishments.

Watch: On the flight home from Paris, I watched a fascinating documentary that aired on HBO recently called Agnelli, focusing on the extraordinary life and legacy of Gianni Agnelli, the Italian industrialist, reformed playboy, adventure seeker, and husband of the eternally stylish Marella Agnelli. I am excited to watch it again hopefully this weekend with Fabian. You can watch the trailer here.

Read: There are so many wonderful books coming out this fall including seasoned author, Susanna Salk’s most recent design tome, The Power of Pattern which is filled with inspiring images of beautiful projects, many of which are probably already favorites of yours as they are mine, that feature patterns in all types, shapes, and sizes. This book is a must for anyone with a penchant for pattern and a love of textiles.

Events: If you’ve been following the #DreamDesignLive hashtag on Instagram, you will have noticed that many friends and influencers have begun receiving their advance copies of my book, Dream Design Live. It’s hard to believe that it’s release date of September 4th is just around the corner and that my book tour will kick off two days later with my first book signing at FOUND in Houston on Thursday, September 6th from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm. You can RSVP at rsvp@foundhouston.com. The following week, I will be in the New York area for four events. Some of the details are still being confirmed, but I’ll begin the week with a book signing at the Williams Sonoma store in Short Hills, NJ on Tuesday, September 11th from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm. You can RSVP through this link. Please note that the price shown for the event includes your copy of the book and NJ sales tax. On Friday, September 14th, I’ll be in Locust Valley, NY for a book signing with Meg Braff and Elizabeth Pash at 96 Forest Avenue from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. In between, I’ll have events with One Kings Lane and Circa Lighting in Manhattan so stay tuned for more details. I am so excited to meet you on the book tour!

Shop: Tory Burch recently introduced a new bag inspired by one of my favorite style icons of all time. The Lee Radziwill satchel was inspired by the woman who many consider to be the most stylish of the famous Bouvier sisters (Lee and Jackie Kennedy) whose effortlessly chic style has endured the test of time for decades. This limited edition bag comes in four timeless colors and would look just as chic with jeans and a tee shirt as it would with a ladylike sheath and heels.
