Happy Valentine’s Day! It’s been a busy week, especially as I am preparing for a few upcoming trips, so I will keep this short and sweet. Have a wonderful weekend!
ONE: The March issue of Elle Decor features a fabulous New York apartment designed by David Netto. In Netto’s signature fashion, the space features a mix of blue chip art, interesting furnishings from a variety of periods, as well as unassuming textures that ground the entire space. The Richard Serra piece in this photograph is incredible, especially paired with the feminine lines of the coffee table. I love the tension it creates.
TWO: Ulla Johnson is one of my favorite designers. While her collections skew more on the bohemian side, I absolutely love her feminine dresses. I already have my eye on a few pieces from her Fall/Winter 2020 collection. My favorites are: one, two, three, four, five.
THREE: I dream of going to India one day. I would love to see their beautiful decorative arts and textiles in person. Oh, and don’t forgot the incredible jewels from the Maharajahs! Until then, I’ll draw inspiration from Patterns of India: a Journey Through Colors, Textiles, and the Vibrancy of Rajahstan by Christine Chitnis. This stunning visual journey offers an incredible look into the country where hot pink is considered a neutral! Organized by the five dominant colors in Indian culture: royal blue, sandstone, marigold, ivory, and rose, the over 200 photographs provide insight into the author’s decade of immersing herself in Indian culture.
FOUR: Tame Impala is one of my absolute favorite bands. Kevin Parker, the lead singer and mastermind is akin to what Brian Wilson was to The Beach Boys decades ago, creating a completely singular sound. I love their music so much, that I pretty much only listened to their last album, Currents while I wrote my book, Dream Design Live a couple of years ago. Needless to say, I am very excited about their new album, Slow Rush. Standouts include Borderline and It Might Be Time.
FIVE: I can’t help but love the British Royals and have since I was a little girl. As such, I cannot wait for the new CNN docuseries, The Windsors: Inside the Royal Dynasty which starts this Sunday, February 16th. Watch a preview here.
